Hints For Your Site

Basic Web Site Pages

You're probably wondering how many hours it may take for Bob to build a standard Web site for you.  Well, let's look at the following example.  A nice, attractive, and informative Web site would consist of at least the following pages:

Page 1:   About Us (Or Welcome) This is the first page that comes up when someone visits your site.  It's a good place to do a "snapshot" description of your mission, your organization, your purpose, your business, what you're about.  It can also be a greeting to visitors, thanking them for visiting your site, etc.  You can give your visitors an overall view of what to expect on the following pages.

Page 2:   Biography (Or Profile)  On this page you can describe in more detail about yourself, your experience, your background, your mission, your company, your ministry.

Page 3:   Photo Gallery   Here is a good place to show the world what you're all about.  People love to look at pictures.

Page 4:   Products   If you have products or services to sell, they can be detailed on this page for your visitors' convenience.

Page 5:   News & Events   Here you can list new products, new ideas, new mission efforts, new ministry opportunities, and announcements of upcoming events.

Page 6:   Contact Us  This is a pretty standard page on any Web site, giving your visitors a chance to respond or to ask questions or to buy something, etc.

Other Pages to Consider

Date Book:   Maybe you are a speaker, singer, a music group.  A page showing your dates and where you'll be is important.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):   Here you can list the most asked questions that your visitors might have, along with your answers.

Driving Directions:   Perhaps you have a business or retail store where it's important for customers or clients to be able to find you.

Catalog Page:   A good place to list your products.

Internet Links:   You might want to add your friends' Web site links or customers, affiliates, partners, missionaries, etc.

What Bob Needs From You

If you decide to have Bob develop your new Web site, he will need information from you, along with photographs, logos, any brochures that you may have, etc.  Bob will select an appropriate design and color scheme for your site, write the copy, and carefully check everything for accuracy, proper punctuation, spelling, etc.  You'll have a chance to review everything, of course, and make edits, suggestions, and changes.  It's YOUR site!  You're the boss.

GIVEN THE ABOVE INFORMATION, Bob will be able to give you a pretty good estimate of the time he'll spend on your site.  For the basic pages, generally about an hour per page is needed.  Some things take longer to do, or to be creative about, and all of this time involvement varies, of course.  But Bob will always be honest with you.
